Square and rectangular tubing is an extruded material commonly chosen for diverse fabrication tasks due to its light weight and resistance to corrosion. It features sharp corners both internally and externally and lacks any welding seams.
Square & Rectangular Tubing
Mechanical: This aligns with ASTM A513 Type 1 (AWHR) or Type 2 (AWCR). It's an electric resistance-welded tube created from low carbon steel. This offers an admirable surface finish and excellent formability. All sizes come with the OD flash eliminated, while the ID flash remains. Typically, it's available in wall thicknesses less than 11 GA and sizes under 3 inches.
Structural: This adheres to ASTM A500 - Grade B. It's an electric resistance-welded tube crafted from a structural steel grade. This tube offers a commendable strength-to-weight ratio and is easy to weld, shape, punch, and drill. All sizes have the OD flash removed, while the ID flash remains intact.
Minimum Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength is upwards of 58,000 psi, the yield strength stands at 46,000 psi, and the percentage elongation in 2" is 23%.
